Semiconductor Integrated Circuit Layout Design

According to Vietnam IP Law, a semiconductor integrated circuit is a product, in its final or  intermediate form, comprises numerous building elements of which at least one element is an active element, and some or all of the interconnections are integrally formed in or on a piece of semiconductor material to perform an electronic function. "Integrated circuit" is synonymous with "IC", "chip" and "microelectronic circuit".
 

An application for registration of a layout-design of semiconductor integrated circuit is to be filed with the National Office for Intellectual Property (NOIP). Validity of the Registration Certificate begins on the grant date and expires at the earliest date among the following:
 

1. The end of 10 years as from the filing date;
2. The end of 10 years as from the date the layout-designs were first commercially exploited anywhere in the world by the person having the right to registration or his or her licensee;
3. The end of 15 years as from the date of creation of the layout-designs.
