The NOIP - 38 years of establishment

The National Ofice of Intellectual Property (NOIP) of Vietnam was established on July 29, 1982 with a staff of 27 persons. Currently, with 360 employees working in 17 Departments and Centers, the NOIP has become one of the powerful bodies of the Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST). Under the NOIP,  besides the state management departments there are eight centers, namely Patent Examination Center (PEC), Industrial Design Examination Center (IDEC), Trademark Examination Center (TEC), Geographical Indication and International Trademark Examination Center (GITEC), Post Registration Examination Center (PREC), Industrial Property Information Center (IPIC),  Information Technology Center (ITC) and Intellectual Property Training and Consultation Center (IPTC).

Regarding the registration of industrial property rights, in 2017, the NOIP handled 39,250 applications (an increase of 1% compared to 2016), in 2018 handled 42,867 applications (up 9.2% compared to 2017) and in 2019 handled 65,029 applications (up 51.7%). compared to 2018).

The NOIP has branch offices in Ho Chi Minh and Da Nang cities.
