Applied-for mark  “IDPLANGUAGE” is opposed

IDP Education Limited, headquartered at Level 8, 535 Bourke Street, Melbourne, Victoria 3000, Australia, owner of National (VN) Trademark Registration No.87742 “IDP” and No.87744 “ idp, figure”, currently in effect  in Vietnam for “Educational information services; educational consulting services” in Class 41 and “Educational research services” in Class 42 (the cited trademarks) has petitioned with the IP Vietnam to oppose national applied-for mark application No.4-2020-24033 “IDPLANGUAGE” for “Education and training services; foreign language training services; foreign language center; overseas study consulting services" in Class 41 on the grounds that the applied-for mark is confusingly similar to the cited mark already registered, in particular (i) the word "IDP" which is the dominant and distinctive element of the applied-for-mark is identical with the cited trademark, and (ii) the services covered by these marks are similar to each other.

The case is being handled by the IP Vietnam./.
