Vietnam: The Number Counterfeit Cases Increased Significantly in 2014

On January 14, the Market Management Department ("MMD") held an online conference on summation of 2014. According to the MMD, the activities of production and business of counterfeit/fake goods have been a complicated problem.

 

The counterfeits have been not only produced in the domestic but also abroad. Most of which were originated and smuggled from China falsifying the origin of Vietnam, Korea, Japan etc. The counterfeits occurred on most kind of goods such as motorcycle spare parts, washing powders, seasonings, fertilizers, cosmetics, clothes, shoes etc.

 

In 2014, the MMD has been seized and settled 17,396 cases of production and business of counterfeiting and infringing goods that increased 3,388 cases (24.2%), the value of seized goods also increased up to 3.9 billion VND (12.1%) in comparison with 2013.
