Pham & Associates to present on “Businesses in accompanying with Market Management Bodies in fighting against counterfeit, IPR infringing goods” seminar

The Seminar was held in Hanoi on April 22nd 2014 in the framework of the “European Trade Policy and Investment Support Project” (‘EU-MUTRAP’), financed by EU, executed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade (‘MOIT’) and co-implemented by General Department of Market Management (‘GDMM’)  and Project Management Unit of EU-MUTRAP. The goal of EU-MUTRAP is to support the MOIT in facilitating sustainable international trade and investment through improved capacity for policy making, policy consultation, and the negotiation and implementation of related commitments, particularly vis-à-vis the EU. Protection of IP rights and anti-counterfeiting is prerequisite for ensuring a business sustainable development.

 

At the Seminar, representatives and participants from GDMM, National Office of Intellectual Property, General Department of Trade Promotion, some Market Management Department of Hanoi, Nam Dinh, Vinh Phuc provinces ect, Vietnam Association for Anti-counterfeiting and Brand Protection (VATAP), Vietnam Beer-Alcohol-Beverage Association (VBA) and about 20 well-known companies/businesses discussed and shared their views and experiences on the fight against counterfeit, IPR infringing goods, particularly emphasized on active roles of businesses, a need for closed collaboration among associations, businesses and competent authorities in this fight and suggested possible anti-counterfeiting measures as well as action plans for the coming years.

 

Pham & Associates attended the seminar as a legal representative of the IP’s holder and presented some experiences in the fight against counterfeit Honda goods.
