Nearly 50% of watches in the market is fake

The "Watch Verification" campaign to distinguish genuine and counterfeit goods by Xwatch has revealed unexpected numbers of the Vietnamese watch market.

Spending $ 12,000 but still got a counterfeit Rolex watch

 A customer bringing a hand-carried Rolex watch from Switzerland that he bought $ 12,000 (about 200 million VND) to Xwatch for verification.

After testing, experts concluded, the Rolex was faked by extremely sophisticated tricks with seconds-hand casted in solid Gold, number display and logo are amazingly faked that it’s almost impossible to distinguish by bare eyes. 2 of the 10 diamonds on the bezel are much less light reflective than others. The Rolex replica is modeled after the latest Rolex model: the 3255.

216 fake watches destroyed

On 28/9/2016, 216 fake watches were smashed Xwatch Luxury showroom, 318 Hue Street, Hai Ba Trung, Hanoi. This is part of Xwatch's "Watch Verification" campaign in an effort to help people distinguish real-fake goods on the watch market in Vietnam.

At the event, a 650kg roller ran over and smashed 216 fake watches collected from the "Free Real-Fake Watches Verification" program which was held from September 9 to September 25/ 2016 with the attendance of representatives from the National Office of Vietnam 389, Vietnam Standards and Consumer Protection Association, prestigious news agencies and a lot of people.

As of October 2018, the watch verification campaign has recorded impressive numbers. According to information from representatives of Xwatch, 28,401 watches were verified through pictures at website https://thamdinhdongho.vn/, of which 12,927 have been detected as fake, accounting for 45.5% of the total.

The "Watch Verification" campaign has attracted the attention and support of the Vietnam Association for Anti-counterfeiting and Trademark Protection (VATAP), the Vietnam Standards and Consumer Protection Association, and the press agencies, aiming at raising the public awareness against fake watches as well as many other counterfeit products that are widely spread in Vietnam.
